Application

Loudspeakers are part of the family. The Aspen FR10 is designed to more easily fit into any living environment and perform at its best with a minimum of setup hassles and a maximum of options. While the FR10, like all high-performance speakers, appreciates some breathing room from the front wall, placement is a snap. Overview

The FR10 will fit into every small to medium-sized room and provide room-shaking bass down to 30Hz. For the upper end, it employs the same Aspen planar tweeter found in both the FR20 and FR30, and for its legendary open midrange it relies upon the same planar technology as its bigger counterparts. Without question, the Aspen FR10 is the perfect loudspeaker for any room and budget.

The Drivers

On the FR10 we chose a technology with the speed of an electrostat and the dynamics of a cone: planar magnetics. These ultra-low-distortion drivers are driven by front and rear magnetic structures for inherent linearity, with none of the cone or dome breakup, inductance modulation, or hysteresis distortion that plagues traditional drivers. For the low end, long-throw high-excursion 6.5″ woofers with a split magnetic gap, double Faraday ring, and Rohacell foam-core cones are paired with three rear-mounted high-compliance passive radiators for deep, port-free bass.

The Enclosure

The Aspen FR10 enclosure starts with the internal structure necessary for great sound and is then lovingly sculpted into a work of art, with industrial design by Studio 63. Internally, it is extensively braced to minimize colorations. The main body is built with MDF, while the sculpted front baffle is formed from a dense, rigid, well-damped thermoset fiberglass resin composite with integrated high-frequency waveguides. It is finished in 20 coats of hand-rubbed high-grade lacquer atop a sturdy milled aluminum base.
